It might be rainy and dreary in NYC, but it always fun to brighten someone's day by announcing that they are a winner! Now, don't get me wrong, I personally think that each and every one of my Followers is a winner...but in the BOT-astic Prize Give-Away there could only be one!
Thanks again to Ame Dyckman for the fabulously funny post and for the Prize Package.
The Winner chosen through random.org is....
Kathy Ellen Davis!!!!!

Now, for Wednesday Writers Weigh In.
The question to ponder today is
"How does where you live influence, if at all, your writing?"
Congratulations, Kathy Ellen!
ReplyDeleteI think that where I live influences my writing in that I consciously choose to set my stories elsewhere, intending that such a move will make them more accessible to readers (and to potential publishers). The reaction to me telling people outside Canada where I live usually results in a blank stare, or a "where? Is that anywhere near Toronto?" (answer: not even close.)
A friend told me after visiting my home prairies, that she understood the openness in my writing better after seeing the openness and vastness of my prairie home. I liked that!
Great answer, Beth! And your friend's answer is so lovely! Thanks for sharing.
DeleteCongrats to Kathy Ellen!
ReplyDeleteI am not sure how "where I live influences my writing". I have to admit, I hadn't pondered that before. I do think that people and experiences have had more of an influence than geography.
Its not a question I have given much thought too either, but when I tell people I live in NYC they always say that I must get so much inspiration from the city. Truth is, I love picture books about NYC or with NYC themes, but I have never felt compelled to write one.
DeleteCongratulations, Kathy! Great prize!
ReplyDeleteMany of my stories take place where I live, so I'm a big YES. The influence is there.
And where do you live, Genevieve? Must be some place fun! :)
DeleteWoo-Hoo! Thanks, Marcie! I've never won a picture book before... so excited to add it to my collection!! Thank you THANK YOU!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Kathy Ellen.
ReplyDeleteGreat question, Marcie. I think my writing is influenced by place, although it may not always be apparent in content. In a few instances, though, it definitely is; I live in a community where glass is a major economic & cultural influence; two current works in progress are directly influenced by that. I also find that when I'm in a city such as NYC or London, I walk constantly & observe people & situations; as a result, ideas keep coming. Apparently, Dickens was a great wanderer; I like to hope that his strategy may work for me...
