Writers Weigh In: Renn's Pitch Contest

Alright, Writers!  Today is still Renn Week at the Write Routine, as well as Wednesday Weight In.  We are going to change it up with a little contest.

From what I can see online, Renn is doing really well and is enduring his stay in the hospital with the true spirit of a Jedi.  (If you do not know Renn's story, please look to Monday's post).  However, he's still not home yet, so let's continue to show the love.

Today I would like you all to Weigh In with a very special pitch contest!  Let's hone our skills while also making a little guy smile.

Rules:
Pitch a story about a main character who undergoes a struggle (like Renn) and has to go away for a while to deal with it (in Renn's case, to the hospital).   The story will be about how they deal with This struggel and their time away and how they overcome in the end.   The  main character should have many of Renn's characteristics (brave, smiley, etc).  You can read his story again to get yourself acclimated with him.

Pitch your story idea in the comments section.

When he is able, Renn will choose the story he likes best and the winner will receive a $10 Amazon Gift Certificate!

Sound good?  Ready to play Renn's Pitch Contest?  Writers Weigh In!

Pitching closes at midnight PST on Friday, July 27th, 2012!

  1. When Renn comes face to face with Darth Vadar, he must call upon all of his forces (yes, there are more than one!) to defeat him at last!

  2. The moon has become offended with the Earth and turned its back. Every night is so dark that no one can see where they are going and Eli is afraid to go outside at night. The oceans have become confused. Only sweet, funny, smart, brave Renn can charm the moon to turn around again. He has to travel in his Renn-sized spacecraft that works much the same way as a hospital remote. I think success is pretty much guaranteed.

    1. When Renn, the galaxy's whistling warrior, is called to stop the angry elephant size chinchillas from eating everyone on planet Starlight, his special whistling power doesn’t work. To stop the attack he must go to the Cave of Lights and learn to speak Chinchilla from the dancing dragon. After hours of lessons, Renn returns ready to talk to them. “Nehaaaa,” he said shaking his head. “Mooooo,” he added. They left laughing so hard they wet themselves with their own tears. “What did tell them?” asked the people of Starlight. Renn smiled and said, “I just asked them to moooove back home.”

  3. When Sammy and her little brother go to Grandma's, Sammy discovers that Grandma has bought all sorts of foods that Sammy and her little brother are allergic to. Sammy is afraid, because Mom has always taken care of her, but somehow, Sammy finds the courage to speak up and take care of her little brother the way Mom always took care of her. Sammy becomes superhero Sammy Celiac, and she saves her little brother from Grandma's snacks, and helps Grandma to learn all about food allergies!

  4. Panath knew it would take all his courage and strength to make the journey to the farthest isle where the old healer lived. He knew also that the road would take him past the Dragon of Doom's cave. The whole village gathered to wish him luck and armed with his sabre and their solid belief in his power, Panath set out in faith.

  5. Stanly Super is in a stupor; He's lost his super powers. A week at the All-Quacks Hero Hospital will determine if jumping off buildings will be a past tense, rather than a past time. Luckily Stanly brought his best secret weapon with him to the hospital- a smile.

  6. Daniel has looliedaloopiedaloo, He's sent to the hospital! What will he do? He's scared and he's nervous. He quivers. He quakes. He shivers and flivers. He wiggles and shakes. And then when he's ready to hide in the bed where no one can see him, not even his head, he remembers! His hero, the best one there is -- the great Jedi Renn had a problem like his. And he smiles, and he laughs and he plays Candyland, and he waves his lightsaber, and thinks its just grand that all of the people all over the land think HE is a hero, the great Jedi Dan!

  7. A young boy named Duke Flytalker wants more than anything to be named his kingdom’s next Dragon Tamer. But in order to win that title, he must compete in the annual Fire Breath Games. Duke’s grandfather, Luke, tells him of a secret cave, where he can go to learn all about dragons. What Duke doesn’t know, until he arrives at the Cave of the Serpents, is that the lessons will be taught by the most ancient and feared reptile in all the land, Darth Dragon.
