Writing For Children course at San Diego Writer's Ink STARTS ON THE 16th!

Ever think you might want to write for children but don’t know where to start? Whether you desire to write a quiet bedtime story like Goodnight, Moon or a thrilling young adult epic like The Hunger Games, this 10-week class is for you. Join me on a journey to explore all literature for ages 0-19.
This comprehensive course will cover everything you need to know to start on your own kidlit path, with a heavy focus on craft.
You will learn:
  • The different categories of children’s books as well as look closely at what is being published today.
  • Tips on where to look for inspiration and ideas.
  • How to shape plot in picture books and chapter books, as well as in middle grade and young adult novels.
  • How to create characters that captivate young readers.
  • Tips for finding your voice.
  • How to navigate the various stages of revision.
  • The business of children’s book publishing and how to market your work.
This course will use a combination of lecture, in-class writing exercises, and critiquing of student works-in-progress.
Whatever type of children’s book you want to write—picture books, chapter books, middle grade, or young adult—I’ll set you on your way to creating stories that are treasured for a lifetime.
